Representaion To Books Saint Francis

‭‭‎Ο φτωχούλης του Θεού = Phtochoules tou Theou = God's Pauper: st. Francis of Assisi a Novel = Saint Francis, Nikos Kazantzakis

Francis of Assisi, whose renunciation of his young man’s life of leisure and founding of a religious order dedicated to living in poverty and sharing the Gospels with all living things profoundly influence the ways in which Christians the world over worship and give service to their god even today. Recounted in Nikos Kazantzakis’s striking prose through the eyes of the saint’s brother, Leo, the life of Saint Francis shines in these pages as a heroic example of inspirational leadership and boundless love for God and all His creatures.

Criticize Out Of Books Saint Francis
I was introduced to Nikos Kazantzakis by Jim Gottreich, my sophomore-year high school world history instructor. He and his wife, Anastasia, a Greek, were quite hospitable to myself and several others who had regarded him as their favorite teacher at Maine Twp. H.S. South. After our academic relations had ended we made it a regular practice to visit them at their home in Skokie, continuing this practice until the late seventies when the Gottreich family moved elsewhere. On one such occasion he

I learned from this book how the life of a genuine seeker of God is one of constant crucifixion. Of the total sacrifice of the ego at the altar of the Divine, so that we may partake of that divinity. And how intensely humanely superhuman that divinity is. The soul suffers with all of suffering humanity, rejoices with all of rejoicing humanity. Awesome. Tempting, fearful yet a journey to be yearned for. Even the yearning is much better than all possessions and attainments which we normally hold

Wonderful, impressive, sensitive and human book full of deep thoughts to contemplate about. I got the book as a gift and honestly, it really took me some time to get over first pages and get into the story... But once I did, I could not stop reading. Not only I admired the devotion of both Francis and Leo, but many times, I really was pulled into the story and was trying to picture the atmosphere, nature etc. in my mind. Definitely going to read this one again and search for similiar literature

In honor of the new Pope's election, my roommate named his T.V. Francis and I finally picked up Nikos Kazantzakis's novel Saint Francis, which has been on my shelf for two years. This book is told in the first person by Brother Leo, the title character's companion. The narrator, many of the other characters, and many of the events are true to history. Unfortunately, while Francis of Assisi is a compelling figure from history, the character in this book didn't work for me. His transformation is

A very special book. Have read it two times.

Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957) was born in Crete and lived in Greece most of his life. He was the author of poetry, plays, articles and novels, including The Last Temptation of Christ, Zorba the Greek The Last Temptation of Christ, The Odyssey: A Modern Sequel, and The Greek Passion. The author gives us a very human and realistic portrait (as in The Last Temptation of Christ) as a holy man who sincerely struggled with his calling to serve God in the midst of much conflict from family and
