Comment On Containing Books Désirée
such a nice story with pushes you to read more every day and gives you a good perspective abut the history after the french revolution and the life of royal ppl and their decisions!

The bad first - it is fictional and it is basically chick-lit. But seriously...one of the best historical fiction/chick lit books. The novel tells in diary style the life of Désirée Clary-Bernadotte. Napoleon Bonaparte's first fiancee, later Madame Marechale Bernadotte and finally Queen Desideria of Sweden (who is also sister-in-law to Napoleon's brother Joseph). All of these are true historical facts and make in themselves a compelling read. In her diary entries which run from about 1793 to

Another one of those books that would never deserve four stars from a literary point of view, but oh I love it so - and I see from other reviews that I'm not the only one that considers this book and the characters in it as old friends. So many scenes that I want to read again and again... I don't care that it's historically very inaccurate, that nothing (almost nothing) really happened like this. For me it's a charming, emotional, wonderful love story. And I'm very glad the heroine is not

hardcover library book - historical novel read in the late 70s.

This used to be one of my favorite books back when I was a teenager, but reading it again after all this time, I can't for the life of me figure out why. I don't know if it's the diary style, the translation, or if I've just changed very drastically since then. But honestly, I couldn't stand Désirée this time around. I thought she was childish (and since pretty much every man she interacts with, including her husband, tells her all the time how childish and stupid she is, I guess it can't be
