Judgment Epithetical Books El Dorado: Further Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel (The Scarlet Pimpernel (chronological order) #7)

The first time I read this, I felt it dragged on a bit compared to the original The Scarlet Pimpernel. However, right now I am making my way through *all* of Orczy's Pimpernel books. Eldorado blows I Will Repay and The Elusive Pimpernel out of the water, hands down. It has all your favorite characters interacting in a variety of ways, and a complex plot. The original is, of course, still the best.

Perhaps one of the Scarlet Pimpernel's greatest adventures. Backed into his tightest corner yet, all hope seems lost. The overarching theme of this book could be described in one quote from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice; "We are all fools in love." The reader is carried through love, betrayal and unshakeable faith through this incredible journey.

This book could be either one or five stars, but it made me laugh so much that I went for a fiver here. (Also, no anti-semitism OR racism here! Yay!)Let's just say, this book is ridiculous. Baroness Emmuska Orczy could probably have written this entire story using a quarter of the words. She likes long, descriptive pasages where sinews nearly break with passion. El Dorado was a good story, maybe even one of the better ones, but not totally my favorite. It was nice having some more of Margurite. I just got a little annoyed with Sir Percy, though. He's always running off and saving people and ignoring his poor wife. He wasn't at his best in this book.Otherwise, another rollicking

I loved this book just as much as the first one! The beginning is a little slower, and Armond drove me nuts. While I could see why he got everyone into so much trouble, it also earned a lot of forehead slapping because it was so obviously the wrong choice.
