Not sure if this is the right book by Pelevin because the review is not written in English. I read the book in English. A very strange take on vampires. As always, Pelevin amazes and tickles those synapses you had no idea you even had. an incredibly innovative and captivating vampire story where nothing is about vampires and everything is. Off I go to Batman Apollo :)
Victor Pelevin's Empire V (English translation published by Gollancz, review copy from NetGalley) aspires to be a 21st Century The Master and Margarita. It follows a young man called Ram, who is drifting through life in modern Russia. He follows chalk marks on the floor to an apartment where he is offered a bright future. He is transformed into the vampire Rama, and is gradually educated about vampires and the controlling role they play in the world economy.Pelevin paints a harsh and nihilistic

"Appollo Batmen" (by Victor Pelevin ) - I gave 5 stars. That is the origin of it. I liked the "Empire V". It was not that outstanding, but completing the story as a whole. Here it was fun to read about V-Empire, black-noise vs white-noise vs info-noise; distractions and (democratic) dictatures.
Pelevin builds a myth here instead of destroying one, as he did in Omon Ra. Hard to believe it is the same author. The quality of prose and ideas is uneven, but the central premise remains fascinating till the end, though the imposition of human emotions on an essentially inhuman creature might feel incongruous at times.
The novel has many sides. One can consider it science fiction: parasites (or rather, symbiants) supplementing humans to form a new species; urban fantasy is also a label that fits vampires walking among us. And given the copious amount of philosophical ramblings, "philosophical fiction" seems like a good match. But neither the fresh, original ideas, nor Pelevin's unique in-your-face writing style can make up for the patches of unmitigated, excruciatingly boring narration. One of the author's
One of the bests of my beloved author.
