I think this is a book that everyone who likes Biographies and Memoirs should read. Antwone Quenton Fisher has every right to brag about what he has accomplished in his life after given such a terrible and cruel upbringing with people who I hope have read his book and been totally ashamed. The child welfare system should have looked harder to find family for him, when he was given up by his mother. Apparently I'm the only one that couldn't read this book. It just never "sparked" my inner reading happiness. I wanted to read it, but it was so difficult to read and I don't know the author by anything other than this book I happened to pick up at a thrift store.After reading the raved reviews about this I sorta feel guilty for putting it down. Maybe its my mood this month. Maybe I'll try it again later - who know.

Try the audio version to hear the author, Antwone Quentin Fisher, tell HIS story about growing up in the foster care system. I took care to set it aside multiple times. Why? Because this person is a survivor of several forms of abuse--mental, physical, sexual, etc. I'm sure it was difficult to reflect on his very harsh childhood as it was for me to understand the things he endured, but there is a HEA in his adult life.

I am reading this book and i think its great because it takes you back to old times. Also its about abuse.
