Explanation To Books Captured
Love is never easy. It's especially difficult when you love a Marine. I knew the risk when I said "I do", but I chose to love anyway.In a flash, he was taken from me, and now I'm alone. Struggling and desperate. There's no hope, no future. Just the endless cycle of day-to-day survival. But a letter returned could change all of that.
Hope and love often come from the last place you'd think to look, when you least expect it.
* * *
I was a lost, broken soul, tortured by the memories of what I'd endured. When I visited that old farmhouse in rural Texas, all I wanted to do was return the letter. Keep a promise to a friend.
What I got was healing. Understanding. The chance to find a measure of peace when all I've ever known is war.
We both lost everything. But in each other, we found something worth fighting for.

*3.75* So, I don't know how I feel about this book. I liked the story, it just didn't move me the way I thought it should have. I think I was expecting one thing and the twist which happened early had me recalibrating what I thought the story was going to be about. Also, the most emotional part of this book for me wasn't between the two main characters and happened early in the book. The writing was a mixed bag for me as well. There were some parts that were brilliantly written and some parts5 WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO READ THIS STARS!!!!I love Jasinda and Jack!!!!!! I want to slap myself in the face for waiting FOREVER to read CapturedI will be honest. I was scared. Yes, I was scared that I was going to be disappointed and cry my eyes out. Well I cried, but not what you think.I credit bloody emotional cried because it was just so good!!!!Captured is part of Wounded (although not linked). You do not need to read Wounded to read Captured, but there are characters from Wounded
A heartwrenchingly beautiful story of second chances - two shattered people who lost so much, finding something incredibly together.You captured me, and my life changed again. For better this time.Raegan is married to a career Marine. They have spent more time apart than together in their eight years of marriage, but Thomas is her best friend and the love of her life. His death in Afghanistan shatters her. Derek is a Marine serving in Afghanistan. His unit is wiped out in an ambush and he is
THIS is why I read. To feel the blood rushing through my veins, to feel my heart race, to feel my lungs seize as I gasp for breath. To feel the heat of lust, the terror of fear. To feel devastating heartbreak and intense joy. To feel. To feel. To feel. This book is EVERYTHING.
I really wanted to read this book. I was minutes away from one-clicking it but then I saw my friend's review and the second tragedy she mentions in her review is too much for me, I don't think I can deal with it.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Actual Rating: 2.5 StarsDecided to see what the fuss is all about, and I have to say...I'm not that impressed.I was expecting some life changing read, but I got a story I have come across many times. The widowed heroine. The tortured hero. The forbidden romance. And so, so much emotional turmoil. I'm not saying it was all bad. There were some truly heartbreaking, tear-worthy scenes, so I wasn't totally indifferent to this story, but it just wasn't enough. I needed something else, something more.
5 Stars Wounded was one of my favorite books I read in 2012. It was the first book Ive read of Jasinda Wilders. It also happens to be my favorite book of hers. Or it was until I read Captured. Let it be known that I am not a huge fan of military books. Ill read them, but I dont seek them out. There is just something about the way Jasinda and Jack write these stories- Wounded, The Missionary, Captured- that keep me fully engaged and make me fall in love with the stories and characters.
