Astérix le Gaulois = Asterix the Gaul (Asterix, #1), René Goscinny

Asterix the Gaul is the first volume of the Asterix comic strip series, by René Goscinny (stories) and Albert Uderzo (illustrations).

All Gaul is under Roman control, except for one small village in Armorica (present-day Brittany), whose inhabitants are made invincible by a magic potion created periodically by the Druid Getafix. To discover the secret of the Gauls' strength, Centurion Crismus Bonus, commander of a Roman garrison at the fortified camp of Compendium, sends a spy disguised as a Gaul into the village. The Roman's identity is revealed when he loses his false moustache, shortly after he discovers the existence of the magic potion; whereupon he reports his discovery to the Centurion. ..

Evaluation Out Of Books Asterix the Gaul (Astérix #1)
Well, *have* you read all the Asterix books? It's a fair question. We've read these, but these aren't all. There are, in fact, at least 8 not identified here. Quick quiz Asterix fans - can you name them without resorting to internet memory? [image error]I had the tremendous good fortune to find all but a few of the published volumes in one of our local libraries, and to be able to borrow the remainder of those I could not find from a friend who collects them. If you've yet to be introduced to

First of the series. Not my first though. But I like the introduction of the main characters and how things build up. I wish if I read this first. Doesn't change anything but still, just to feel good about it.Such a perfect entry to the well set stage, which is the endless battle between The little old village and the Romans. There's Wild boar in between too but that's not really important. Lovely plot, and the druids man, this proves there's a druid at the end of everything. Them and their

I have read the physical version of this book many times and loved it every time. But it's a comic book, how can it be a good audiobook. I don't know who wrote the script for the audiobook, but whoever did was amazing. I would say that she is almost on the same level as the creators, René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.(Perhaps now is where I should explain why it only gets four stars. This is an incredibly violent story, and the series gets a bit worse over time. Also we are talking about Gauls and

Years ago my dad bought the entire collection of Asterix and I had read most of them. Even though I remember the plotlines and the hilarious names, rereading is just as much fun! There is never a dull moment and the situations are so excessively hilarious that I find myself shutting the book to laugh for a good couple of minutes and resuming a moment later. As far as comics go, Asterix is the best when it comes to historical and political satire. I would recommend this to pretty much anyone.

This is a goody from my childhood that I havent read in years. I guess I felt a little sentimental picking this up.The Asterix & Obelix comics started being published in 1959 by French authors Rene Goscinny, Albert Uderzo and Jean-Yves Ferri. Since then over 30 books in this series were translated into over 100 languages today. I myself read the German translations as a kid. To this day, boys and girls in Europe are still reading and enjoying these comics as well as the adaptated movies
